Methodology And Pedagogy

Constructivist approach is practiced where knowledge is constructed and not just absorbed, hence making learning a joyous experience.Teachers facilitate the learning cycle through the 5E instructional model that consists of 5 phases of learning – Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate. Inquiry is the fulcrum of the learning process that opens the vistas to higher order thinking skills. Learning happens beyond the classrooms, where all the needs of the 21st century learner are blended in a wholesome and engaging manner.

FOUNDATIONAL STAGE (Nursery-Class 2)

The foundational stage of a child refers to the early years of development, typically spanning from birth to around eight years of age.Learning progresses from known to unknown. Students learn through a play-way method and engage in storytelling to ignite their imagination. Toys and educational artefacts enhance curiosity and expression thereby developing the language competency. Art /craft enhances imagination and creativity, Music and Dance ensure that rhythm and kinaesthetic development takes place and gross motor coordination is achieved through Sports.

PREPARATORY STAGE (Classes 3-5)

The students are involved in hands on activities and make sense of concepts with the help of concrete physical learning aids. The facilitator models and practically demonstrates the concepts and ideas while actively interacting with the children. The students think and analyse after every activity and enhance their skills through reflection and inference. In this stage, educators aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where children feel empowered to explore, discover and express themselves freely. The preparatory stage also emphasizes fostering curiosity, creativity and independence, laying the groundwork for future academic success and lifelong learning.

MIDDLE STAGE (Classes 6-8)

It is a judicious mix of direct instruction and opportunities for exploration and inquiry. The emphasis is not on accumulating more facts but to develop a deep understanding through inquiry. There is a shift from practical to theoretical concepts across curricular areas, which demands more rigour and use of lateral thinking and application. This stage is characterized by increased independence, as students are encouraged to collaboratively practice their learning in groups or engage in individual activity. Alongside academic growth, the middle stage focuses on fostering social-emotional development, as children navigate peer relationships, develop self-awareness and explore their identities.
